FATAL ACCIDENTS.
(By Telegraph —Press Association.)
CHRISTCHUECH, this day.
Arthur Jones, plasterer, married, with three children, while bathing in the River Selwyn on Friday, was drowned. DUNEDIN, this day. Michael O'Halloran, a young married man, fell or was thrown off a horse at North-east Valley, and died in the hospital, his skull being fractured. DUNEDIX, this day. While bathing at Henley yesterday, Mr A. Clark, of North East Valley, was drowned. A number of cyclists secured a boat and grappling apparatus and brought the body ashore, but all efforts to restore animation were ■ unavailing. Norman Ferguson, aged three, who lived with an aunt at Nevada, received burns on Saturday from which he'"': died in the hospital forty minutes ■ after admission. The child had been i playing in a garden where some men were engaged clearing a piece of land and burning- rubbish. While the men were engaged in another part of the ' garden the child evidently got playing with the fire, and his clothes became ignited. Jessie Cummack, aged nineteen, attempted suicide by drinking match heads dissolved in water. She was to be married on Wednesday, but her. father, who lives at Cromwell, failed to send his consent in time for the., ceremony, which was put off in conse- ' quence, and this was prabably the cause of the act of the girl, who is ia the hospital now and out of danger.
