HELENSVILLE SCHOOL.
The prizes and certificates gained by the pupils of the Public Schoolfor regular attendance were distributed on Monday at the Helensville Foresters* Hall. There was a very large gathering of parents and pupils, past and present. In the absence of the Chairman of Committee Mr Monk, M.H.K., presided. The headmaster, Mr D. Dickinson Metge, reported that while there was plenty of room for improvement the results for the year just ended were not altogether unsatisfac* tory, sixteen pupils having gained first - class, and fifteen second * class certificates. The prizes were given to holders of the latter, by the following ladies and gentlemen:—Mfcsdames D. Stewart, flatter, Morris, Miss Broun, (late assistant teacher), Miss Browne (assistant teacher), Messrs Wright. ,T. Stewart, J. R. Martin, Hardcastle, Becroft, T. Nightingale, Metge. The •Chairman made an excellent speech oh the -subject of punctuality and regularity of attendance, 4nd did his iitmost to impress upon the boys and girls of Helensville the desirability of cultivating these habits.. The prizelist is as follows:—First-class: Thomas Cooper, Hei-bert Mahon, James Hafford, Melville Becroft, Tom Scott, John Martin, Alice Hafford, Iline McDonald, Mabel Cooper, Ivy Reynolds, Emily Morris, Teresa McDonald, Violet Constable, Alice Spinley, Emily Main, Amy Cooper. Second-class: Elster Wright, Hubert Metge, George Hardcastle, Oswald Wright, William Jlawson, Vivian McLeod, Violet Travers, Violet Becrdft, Ritft Donovan, Eileen Mahon, Margaret Main. Maria Scott, Kathleen Metge, Lil'iiri Constable, Harriet Isichols.
