BOROUGH MEETINGS.
PARNELL.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Parnell Borough Council was held last evening in the Council Chambers. The Mayor (Mr H. Campbell) presided, and their were also present Councillors Friend, Cozens, Fitt, McCabe, Briggs, Petford, Gilmour and Mowbray, Harbour Board.—lt was decided to hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. on Monday next to elect a. member to represent the Council on the Harbour Board.
Mechanic's Bay Embankment.—Mr C. Holm Biss district engineer, wrote asking the Council's permission to take material from the cliff adjoining the Mechanic's Bay embankment to effect repairs to the sea-wall. It was decided to ask how much material was required. Finance.—The "Finance Committee recommended the payment of accounts amounting to £207* lis 2d. The recommendation was adopted. New Road.—Mr J. Howard requested the Council to form a roadway past his property from Gladstone Road to Campbell's Point, to cut down the trees in front of the property, and to erect a gas lamp in the road. It was decided to reply that the Council is unable to deal with the matter at present.
Cart Crossing.—Mr B. J. M. Kemp requested the Council to form a cart crossing- on the channel at his cart entrance. It was decided to do the work, the applicant to pay the cost. Crescent Road.—lt was decided to : carry a three-inch water main down Crescent Road. In reference to the sale of the allotment at the foot of the street, the Streets Committee were instructed to have the title searched. Tararua Terrace.—Mr M. J. Ronayne requested the Council to attend to the footpath in Tararua Terrace. The foreman of works was instructed to clean the channels and to remove the docks.
