ALLEGED OUTI.AGE ON A GIRL,

MASTERTON, January 12.

The police received information hat an outrage of a particularly bad character Avas committed at Opaki on Tuesday nig t on a girl of 17, and arrested a young man named Robert Douglas, aged 19. The girl states that Dougias accosted her while she was riding, and on stopping she Avas dragged off her horse by the hair. She declares she fought furiously till her strength failed, but that the fellow; effected his purpose and she fainted. On recovering che found herself covered Avith fern. The girl Avas examined by Dr. Hosking, and ample evidence was found to corroborate her story that someone had maltreated her. The clrthing she had worn was. also torn to pieces.

Douglas has been committed for trial.
