Two years 'ago Miss Grant headed the list of Junior Scholars at the examination of 1897, being then a pupil of the Parnell ■District School. , . James D. Dinneen, who stands fsecond (with a total of 3,168 marks), also gained a Junior District Scholarship two years ago from the Te Awa"mutu District School. In the Junior Scholarship examination, the place of honour is also taken by a girl, Eleanor C. Gideon, of the Grafton District School, with a total of 710 marks out of a possible 900. '
The second in order of merit is Robert R. Bell, of the Newton West School, with 706 marks. ?
