GRAND ORANGE LODGE OF NEW ZEALAND.

The thirty-third annual session of the above Lodge was held in the Protestant Hall, Newton, last evening, and was well.attended. During the business of the evening a very handsome gold jewel was presented' 'to Br'o. C. Jovnt, Grand Treasurer, who for over 55 years has been an effective member of the institution. The matter of making the Grand Lodge movable amongst the provinces was considered infeasible until such times as we were connected with the provinces by railway. Ritualism came in for its share of discussion, Rev. Dr. Hosking and others urging on members to do all in their power to thwart its progress. Other matters of importance having been discussed the matter of the late Police Commission was introduced, and the following resolution passed: 'We, the members of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand (North Island) in Grand Lodge assembled, having followed with deep interest'the work of Mr T. E. Taylor, M.H.R., in connection with the recent Police Commission, and recognising the great good accruing from the work of that Commission, desire to express our appreciation of Mr Taylor and to thank him for services undertaken and carried out under great difficulties.' Communications from the 37 Grand Lodges of the world were read and ordered to be replied to, each speaking in glowing terms of the progress of the Order. The officers for the ensuing year were then elected and installed. R.W.G.M., Rev. J. Sharp; R.W.D.G.M., R. Scott; Grand Secretary, J. Carnahan; Grand Treasurer, C. Joynt; Chaplain, Rev. Bro. A. Peters. The other offices having been filled and the routine work over the Grand Master pronounced the session closed, after the National Anthem had been sung, at 3.30 a.m.
