VOLUNTEER SPORTS IN DUNEDIN.

Owing to the large number of competitors "it was nearly eight o'clock before the military sports were concluded. The physical drill competition for twelve men was won by the Timaru City Rifles, with; ?:$ points; Dunedin Highlanders, 62 points, second; arid Rangiora, 59 points, third. In the artillery competition, B Battery, Dunedin,w as-first and second, and E Battery, Christchurch, third. The Dunedin. Engineers won the pontoon raft building, and Bugler Hoskin, Kaiapoi, the bugle contest The Christchurch College, Rifles*; 95' joints, won- the sword bayonet exercise', with the Christchurch City Rifles, 03 points, second; and the Dunedin City Guards 93. points, third.' B" Battery, Dunedin, was first-in the night alarm, and Canterbury -Mounted Rifles ■ No. 2 first in the1 cavalry twid sword exercise. The Dunedin Navals won the tent competition.- the B Battery the.limber race, and the* Dunedin City Guards the tug of war. Hallenstein's challenge cup for the,most points in sword, bayonet and manual physical exercises Was won by the Timaru" City Rifles with 263 points.
