BANKRUPTCY.
Thonias, Sydney Scott,, photographer, made a sworn statement■-before. the Official "Assignee to-day. He stated that- he had been in business about twelve months, and latterly at- the Thames. He started without capital, and during the whole time: had been, living from hand to'mouth. At the best he had never paid expenses., He had no difficulty in getting credit: either for material or household necessaries. He never told any of -ty* creditors that he was without- capital and they never asked him. .His debts, Ayere as follows :— In Auckland,4 }M IBs. 10d.; Thames, £25 Is. 10d., and "Dunedin £1G 19s. 3d.; total/ £H9 os. lid. These debts extended over's period of twelve month^. He was #«, a married man. His personal expen* ses had been about £2 per week. H9. had an assistant to whom:he paid 10sper week and his board besides effl*ploying ah occasional hand. His assistant kept the books and he was not ;aware until he was recently sued oy a creditor.(he got judgment and tdojc possession upon which he arranged to file) .that his assets would .not realise1 £20 at auction. His business was mostly cash. His book debts amounted to' £S. Bankrupt said if .'he'nan not been forced into bankruptcy:^could have raised sufficient money.:,¥>.; pay ss. in the £. He could not now make any such offer. ; j;
