THE HOLIDAY IN THE SOUTH.
« _ WELLINGTON, this day. The weather has cleared again and now gives promise of bein«- fine for the holidays. Last night the Waira rapa train brought a tremendous crowd of passengers. ■ For the past few days the outwardbound steamers have had full com . plements of passengers. There was a considerable commotion on the Queer/s Wharf prior to the departure of the Eotomahana for Lyttelton yesterday afternoon, owing to the Custcms officers refusing to allow some thirty or forty intend.no- passen- | gers access to the steamer for the reason that she was a fall ship. Sevj eral of these took their enforced de- | tention with ill-g-race.
