THE DONALD CUP

The Auckland Yacht Club held their second race of the season on Saturday, when a class handicap raca for the cup presented "by Mr A. B. Donald was sailed. The strong northerly, gale arid heavy sea which prevailed deterred many yaqjits from starting. The course was an 18 mile one, and was from Queen-street wharf round mark boat off Bastion, then?* round mark off , Rangitoto, return same way, rounding, tnark boat off wharf, twice round. ™Mr J. Anserine was starter, Mr H. Haines judge, and Mv A. Buchanan time-keeper. Seven boats started, the handicaps being: — Volunteer scratch, Thelma 7 mm., Aorere 24 mm., Heartease 24 mm., Yvonne 21 mm., Zinita 24 mm., and Mavis 45 mm.' A start was effected at 2.53 p.m., Thelma being first to cross the line, followed by Heartsease, Zinita, Mavis, Volunteer, and Yvonne. Yvonne pased the mark boat on the wrong side and had to return.
