The secretary of the Canterbury Jockey Club has communicated the following to the local newspapers: — The Canterbury Jockey Club having made an exhaustive inquiry into the allegation that Matthew Burnett offered Percy White £100 to •pull' Chasseur in the Stewards' Handicap at the club's spring meeting, is of opinion that the contradictory evidence is insufficient to warrant the disqualification of Burnett or White, As it was elicited In evidence that, certain trainers and jockeys have been in the habit of accepting presents from bookmakers, the Canterbury Jockey Club hereby warns them that such practices will be considered a serious objection to the renewal of their licenses.
