The death of Mr James Baber, at the age of -77. took place at Remuera to-day rather suddenly. Mr Baber was an old Auckland identity, and was for many years one of the best-known surveyors here.
Mr D. Macpherson, connected with the Auckland drapery trade for upwards of 30 years, has opened up in business again in those new and central premises west side of Karangahape road. The building is a neat up-to-date drapery establishment, which for light and ventilation is very superior. The architects were Messrs Mitchell and Watt, who specially designed the building for comfort and shopping facilities, adding their patent ventilator, which adds coolness during the hottest day. There are two large double plate, glass show windows. The place is finished throughout upon the most approved pattern and plans. jN'o doubt Mr 'Macpherson. will'again do a good share of business with old and new customers. His stock is new, varied and select.
