ARBITRATION BILL PASSED.

In the Legislative Council the Probate Duty Bill was rejected by a large majority! Mr Reid referring to the,action of the Upper House stated that things were becoming intolerable. Outrage after outrage had been committed upon the broadest constitutional principles with impunity. He had tried to avoid extreme measures in dealing with the Upper House, but before beginning another session he would take practical measures to place the relationship of the two Houses on a different footing. The Early Closing and Arbitration and Conciliation Bills passed. Mr Copeland's motion for the introduction of a Sunday Trading Bill was negatived. "'
