In the Legislative Assembly If. Trenwith moved a small reductiotrin ihe Chief Secretary's estimates wita a view of alhrming tlie necessity of raising the minimum pay of policemen. The motion was carried,whereupon the Premier moved the adjournment, of the. House to consult his col' leagues as to what course they.would pursue, lie said if the Govermnenj! ' could not control the House in matters of finance .and it appeared that his supporters disregarded him, they, could no longer lead the House.
