The former does no'tabjya-"-so freely, as last year, whilst Cravat must have a pace maker before exert.ing himself. Merloolas, who put'^a slow canter, fills the eye pleasingly but he has not been extended since W arrival. He apparently thrives pn" a gentle preparation. Rosebery galloped nine furlongs in 2min ssec, moving? freely. Strathjoy covered a mile and'a half comfortably in 2min 48sec, and some consider it was a mistake taking him out of the Caulfie'ld Cup.
