I hereby give notice that at a Special Meeting of the above Council, duly convened in accordance with the Municipal ' Corporations Act, 1886, and held in the Borough Council Chambers, Surrey Hills, on the sth day of September, 1898, the following resolution was carried:—That a Special Rate of Fourpence in the pound be levied on the annual valuo. of all the rateable property in those portions of the Borough of Newton known as Surrey and Sussex Wards, for th 6 following purposes: (1) To pay interest on the sum of £1400 already authorised ' to be raised for Water Supply Extension; (2) to provide a sinking fund to repay the said loan of £1400. The said rate to, be made, levied, and collected half yearly; the Jirst half year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1899, and the second half year commencing on the Ist day of October, 1899, payable on ; the Ist clay of June and the Ist day of December respectively in each year.— , And it is hereby publicly notified, pursuant to the Municipal Corporations Act, . 1880, and the Rating Act, 1804, that the Council of the Borough of Newton do hereby make and levy the above-men-tioned Special Rate for the purposes pre--1 viously stated, at Fourpence in the pound on the annual value of all property in those portions of the Borough of Newton known as Surrey and Sussex Wards, such rate to be payable by half yearly instalments, on the first days of June and December in each year.
