RESULT OF THE ST. LEGER.
DEFEAT OF JEDDAH.

At the Doneaster September Meeting to-day the race for the St. Leger resulted :—
The St. Leoer Stakes of 25sovs each, for three-year-olds ; colts, 9st; tillies, Sst 111b. Owner of second horse to receive oOOsovs, and third lOOsovs but of stake. Old St. Legor course. About one mile, six furlongs and 132 yards. Captain Greer's eh c Wildfowler, by Gallinule—Tragedy 1 Mr <L W. tiarnach's eh c Jeddah, by Jgii^aiTY—Pilgrimage ... ... 2 Mr A, Beltnont's eh c Bridegroom 11, by-Rayon tl'Or—St. Bridget. ; 3 The victory o£ Wildfowler in the Don--1 caster St. Leger over the Epsom Derby Kvinner Jeddah was, no doubt, a very great surprise, and the result unexpected. Last season.-Wildfewler started live times, and he gained-three winning brackets, viz., the Ebn.lt Plate at Doncaster, the Autumn Breeders' Foal Plate at Manchester, and ."2tff£{Snd Stakes at Newmarket September. ; The""Slj._Leger was instituted so far hack as the year 1770, when the first contest took "place. Last year the famous Irishbred colt Galtee More proved successful, and-in the year previous H.JR.H. the Prince of Wales won with Persimmon.
