MEETING OF CREDITORS.
A first meeting of creditors of T. R. Judd, draper, was held this morning. There Wfife" present the debtor and Messrs J. C. Coibeck, J.. H. Dalton, C. Daley, K. H. Abbott (Abbott, Oram and Co.), W. R. G.ouclie (Macky, Logan and Co.), H. C. Tewsley (Sargood, Son and Ewen).
The Official Assignee read the sworn statement of the bankrupt, showing the estimated liabilities to be £820 19s 4d, and the assets at £1,286, surplus £465 0s Bd.
It was resolved (1) that tenders be called for the stock in trade returnable in one week from date; (2) and that the equity in ttye lease of premises together with fixtures and fittings be offered to tender within one week from date.
The question of the New Zealand Insnrance Company refusing to pay a claim of £690 on bankrupt's stock was then discussed.
The Official Assignee said he understood the New Zealand Insurance Company would not pay the debtor's claim, and that they would contest it to the end, even to appeal. The debtor, he understood, had not advised the New Zealand Company that he had other policies, on his stock. That was the ground of their refusal to Eay. The matter was now out of the aiads of Mr Brassey, the manager of the Company. The directors had confirmed Mr Brassey's action. ' It was resolved that Messrs Tewsley, Clark, Caldwell, and Coibeck interview the general manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company with a view to compromise, failing that a legal opinion be taken. The meeting then adjourned until 17th August at 2.30 p.m.
