CHRISTCHUECH, this day.
The 400 acre paddock adjoining Castle Peaks property on Glenmark, valued for the Land Purchase Board at £5 10s per acre, has just been sold to Mr William Baker for £12 per acre cash. In the Magistrate's Court this morning Mr Beetham gave his decision in the matter of an application to re-hear the_ case of Martin Taylor, who was some time ago sentenced to two months' imprisonment for keeping a gaming house, and whose appeal was disallowed. His Worship refused the application. Taylor, who has already served one day in gaol, will now have to complete his sentence.

The Royal■ Hotel Nvas burglarised during the night, and a cash register valued at £27 10s containing 30s in silver and several bottles of brandy were stolen.
