THE SHAREMARKET.
Some of the cheaper mining stocks had better demand to-day, but generally speaking business was quiet. Transactions took place in Imperials at l^d, and there was steady demand for City of Auckland shares at sd. Portseas, Waihi Consols, Extended, and Souths, also Coromandel Freehold shares all had inquiry, but no sales were made at the prices offered. The demand for Tararu Creek shares at Is lid continues steady, and for Crowns at 15s 6d. Buyers came' in to-day for Talismans at Bs, and Alphas at Is 4d. In standard stocks Auckland Gas shares show an upward tendency. Hikurangi Coal were firmer, 9s 8d being ' offered this morning. Other lines showed no change.
