HOKIANGA DROWNING ACCIDENT.

To-day Constable MeGilp, of Hokianga, who is at present attending the Supreme Court proceedings, received the following telegram from the Postmaster at Rawene, with, reference to the recent drowning of a young Maori man named Te Mano through a boating accident in Hokianga Harbour: — 'Body recovered to-day. Let old Maka.ra know' The deceased was a son of Wiremu te Makara, who is one of the Maori prisoners at present on trial on account of complicity in the Maori rising at Waima. An inquest is being arranged for af Rawene. Makati was acquainted to-day with the news of the discovery of his son's body. ®
