We are pleased to be able to record the success of another young New Zealander, Mr Bernhard E. Myers, youngest son of Mrs Louis Myers, of this city. He has succeeded in passing the final examinations in medicine and surgeiy at the Edinburgh University, and has obtained the degreo of M.B.C.M. It is a source of gratificatien to note the continued success of those New Zealanders who have proceeded to the Old Country, and Dr. Myers' case is specially creditable, as he has not yet been four years away from the colony. We wish him every success.

The trial of the Hokianga Maori prisoners at the Supreme Court is expected to last the greater part of this week. About twenty witnesses'are to be examined for the prosecution, and a number of native witnesses for the defence.

Messrs Shortland and Co. have pre-» sented ■to tlie Public Library three Commissions bearing the Eoyal Signatures of sovereigns for time being, and countersigned by the Premiers of the period. They are issued to Deputy Commissionary General W. Green, signed by George 111., William IV., and Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and dated respectively 85, 68 and 51 years ago.

The .Tabernacle Band of Hope Society are holding their eighteenth anniversary meeting to-morrow night. They promise to give the public a treat in the way of a grand ldnematooraphic and phonographic concert, at million prices. Mr Chas. Cooper is the scenic artist, and the programme is an excellent one.
