NEWTON BADLY DEFEAT THE

MARINE PLAYERS

The Newton team journeyed to Devonporf on Saturday and continued their brilliant winning record by defeating the North Shoreites by 16 points (2 goals and 2 tries) to nil. The match attracted the biggest crowd of onlookers for the season. Newtpn were without T. Roberts, who ha.d hurt his knee, but they played in his place A. H. Freeman, who made his. firstappearance this season. He distinguished himself too, proving a toweirof iStrengt^i: to his teainJ. -Richards vyas also an absentee; , In the first half of the first spell North Shore made a' great fight of it,- and''there was little. to. choose between the two teams. Newton's splend id forward pack again proved their worth, carrying nearly all of the' scrums, while they were also to the fore in line out work and 'hooking' the ball. Mynott proved the best back on-the field,' and the Freeman Brothers were the fastest. Hobson shone out all through the game and Pillinger distinguished himself in defence work.
