On No. 2 ground Grafton met and defeated City . |j-3 points to nil; while at Devonport tie' unbeaten Newton team scored their eighth consecuiive win, defeatin^ North Shore- by 16 points to nil. the game a* Devonport was very rough at. times, and towards the end typo of the rival, players actually exchanged blows. - , ; jfext Saturday the Cup matches will ], c suspended, to allow of a test match' being1 played between A and P. teams, in vfew of the forthcoming representative matches. The Secretary of the Auckland Rugby Union has written to tie Poverty Bay Union, asking if that jjodv can send a team to Auckland for ■the'23rd inst. If: a reply in the affirmative is received, arrangements- will probably be made for a match between Auckland and the Thames at Potter's on the 16th' nex*- Saturday week.
