The Auckland Gas Company give notice by advertisement in another column " that in consequence of a valve having been left open early this morning, thus giving the town an excessive pressure for some minutes, we regret that many consumers have been inconvenienced, but the accident is being rectilied as quickly as possible." A concert was given in St. T3onaveiituru Hall, Parnell last evening by the Misses .Maxwell. There was a good atendtance and an enjoyable programme was submitted. Father K.ehoe's orchestra gave an opening' overture, followed by the solo 'For the Sweet Love's Sake' by Miss F. Maxwell. The same vocalist also g'flvc 'The Last- Milestone,' and in company with Miss M. Maxwell the duct 'The Wind and the Harp.' Miss Mabel Maxwell sang- 'Ivillarney' and took part in the duet 'Life's Dream is O'er' with Mr IJowe. Mrs Cooper, rendered 'The Flight, of Ages,' and Father Kehoe 'The Itfiyue Maiden.' Mr Kent contributed 'The Deathless Army,' ami Mr J. Eitson gave a sailor's hornpipe and an Irish song- and dance. Another lengthy discussion upon the question of electric tramways for Auckland may bo expected at the meeting of the City Council this evening. Cr. Courtney is to move in the direction of re-opening the question. The annual meeting of the Auckland Cycling Club takes place to-morrow evening in the Club Booms, High-street. The principal business will be the election of officers for the ensuing year, receiving balance sheet and committee report, consideration of proposed amendments to rules and any general business that may arise.
