William Parkins, coach driver, of Coromandel, having filed a petition of insolvency, made a sworn statement at the Official Assignee's office yesterday. He stated that he went to Coromandel two and a half years ago with £284. For some time he worked for wages, mining, but gave up on account of illhealth. His wife, who had a small separate estate, suggested he should start coach and 'bus driving, she offering to provide the necessary 'coaches, buggies, harnest, and horses, and let them to him at a reasonable rent, This was done, and in February, he agreed to pay his wife £1 per weefc. At tho end of six months, on account of bis not paying this rent his wife took possession of the chattels contained in the bailment. His average earnings were not. above 35s per week. His assets consisted of book debts estimated to be worth £20, and two allotments at Kapanga, which cost £18. His liabilities totalled £108.
