FREEMAN'S BAY SEWER.

The subject of the Freeman's Bay Sewer is to be again discussed at the next meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board on Tuesday. No less than three notices of motion have been g-iven. Mr Entrican will move: 'That all offers made to the City. Council ia reference to Freeman's Bay reclaniation be withdrawn.' Mr Devore will move: '1. That.the offer of the City Council to pay onehalf the cost of constructing the Freeman's Bay Sewer be accepted. 2, That plans and specifications he prepared on behalf of the Board, and submitted to the City' Council for its inspection. 8. That tenders then be called by the Board, and the work be carried out under the supervision of a person to be appointed by the Board. 4. That any resolution of the Board conflicting' with the foregoing proposals be rescinded.' Mr Glover will move: 'That in tha opinion of the Board the construction of the Freeman's Bay Sewer should be commenced forthwith, and that the Harbour Board agree to accept the offer of the Auckland City Council to pay one-half the amount 'of construction of the said sewer.'

We understand that the contractor for the Gas Company's reclamation intends to deposit earth on the seaward side of the channel by which the sewer water now makes its way into the harbour, the conseqtfehf-ip! which will be that when the permanent sewer has to be constructed the earth so deposited will have to-be 1 dug out again at a cost of some hundreds of pounds.
