PONSONBY BOWLING CLUB.

Ihe sixth annual meeting of the above Club took place in the Pavilion, Jervois Koad, last evening. The attendance was good considering the state of the weather. Mr J. Court (President) occupied tlio chair. Jhe report and balance-sheet was read and adopted ; the statement showed the Llub to be m a better position than existed at this tune last year. The presentation of prizes won dining the season resulted as follows : Champion Singles (pair of silver mounted bowls}, Mr A. Stewart; Club Pairs (gold medals presented by Messra A. H. and H. W. Brookes), Messrs .1 C Robinson and C. Stiehbury; Club Fours (Club's gold medals), ' Messrs McCutcheon, A. Sutherland, R Tudehope, A Stewart (skip); Handicap Singles (silver-mounted bowls presented by Mr Dyson while in England) Mr J. Court: second prize in same event (bowl case presented by Mr Blades), Mr R. Noonau. During the season a number of friendly contests took place with other clubs in .M !.i ,I>o"SonV were very successful. lhe Club was also runners up for the Pennant Fla«f for the second time in succession. A lawn tennis and croquet club was formed m connection with the club for the convenience of the ladies, and the season has been a very successful one. A gold brooch, the gi;t of Mr A. G. Bartlett, was competed for and, after a keen struggle, was won by Miss Pees. The secretary stated that he had a balance of £4 Is hi trust for the purpose of improving the tennis ground for the coining season. The election of officers resulted :—President, Mr Jas. Edmiston (unanimous) ; senior vice-president, Mr Jas. Kirker (unanimous); junior vice-president, Mr Jas. Stiehbury (unanimous); hon. treasurer, Mr A. Hurudall (re-elected); hon. secretary, Mr J. Blades (re-elected) ; committee, Messrs J. Buchanan and H. VV. Brookes (re-elected), R. Tudehope, J. Hutchison ; green superintendent, Mr R. Ballantyne (re-elected); auditor, Mr J. Stewart (re-elected). Mr Edmiston, tho newly-elected president, then occupied the chair, and made a few appropriate remarks, after which he called on Mr McDonald, who, on behalf of the Club, presented Mr Ballantyne with a purse of sovereigns in recognition of his valuable services to tho Club since its formation. Mr Ballantyne suitably replied. The following gentlemen were elected delegates to the Auckland Bowling Association :—Messrs J. Edmiston, A. S. Russell, J). B. McDonald and J. Blades. A vote of thanks to retiring ollieers and Chairman concluded the business.
