THE PAEROA FLOOD.

ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS.

MINING PROPERTY DAMAGED,

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

PAEROA, this day.

Additional particulars regarding the recent gale and flood show it to have been quite as serious as reported. Mr Armstrong, the county engineer, tells me it will take £3,000 'probably to repair the damage done on the county roads. The Komata Road, especially, has suffered, all the bridges being swept away, and there are slips all along the road; in fact, the road is practically obliterated. The Komata Reefs Company have also sustained considerable damage to their waterrace and mine, necessitating stoppage of tlie battery. The Crown Company at Karangahake have suffered severely, part of their water-race is washed away, but the most serious damage is to the tramway from the mine, which has been swept away for a considerable distance. The air compressor connections with the mine are also gone, and two large vats at the battery have been carried oft by a slip. The battery will probably resume work on Monday, and the mine on Wednesday. The Woodstock and Talisman Companies escaped with very slight damage.
