COROMANDEL.
Hauraki Associated Mines.
£759 FROM 30 TONS,
This Coromandel mino crushed 30 tons ef ore during the past month for a yield of bullion valued at £759.
Work at tho mine is being pushed ahead with a stall of about 40 men. Thetootwall stopes are yielding ore of a very high grade, payable dirt being also won from the Rainbow End Lead. A new level.has been commenced a short distance in from the Kennedy's Bay Road, a little over a hundred feet lower down the hill, which will cut, when in about 300 feet, the Rainbow End Lead, and a short distance further will bring the face of the drive up to the footwall lead, which in the No. 2 level was very rich underfoot. The battery is working most satisfactorily, not only on the Company's own quartz^ but is putting through trial erushings from a number of the neighbouring mines. Should the prospects warrant it when the reefs have been cut in No. 3 level, it is intended to erect an aerial tram between the mine and the battery, and to put through a large quantity of lower grade ore, which would hardly pay for crushing at present owing to the heavy charge for carting. This Company seems now to have passed through its troublesome times, and to be on the high way to prosperity and dividends. A 'circular issed by the directors of this company states that as soon as tho local calls are all paid the company will have to its credit in Auckland alone the sum of over 24500, a similar amount being, it is surmised, in hand in London, and regular monthly erushings are taking place for an average return of over £750 worth of bullion. Since crushing commenced at the end
of last year; 400 tons of ore have been treated for a return of 1614 ounces of bullion valued at £4500.
