The Warden^ Court was occupied yesterday afternoon and to-day hearing an action Barnett and others'v. the Chicago Go. and ■ Joseph Smythe, for breach of contract. It was alleged complainants entered into a contract with the company to drive 100 feet at £1 4s lid per foot, and completed 42ft, for which they were paid. Then the contract was determined. The Hauraki No. 2 licensed holding sold a warrant of distress which was purchased by James Agnew for £9 ss. The ground formerly included the Karaka Queen. The case is proceeding. A native meeting, under the auspices of the Anglican Missionary Society, commenced at Parawai to-day. Native clergymen from Waikato, Bay of Islands, Bishop Cowie and several other European Ministers are expected to take part.
