They suggested the Board should issue a stronglyworded circular to committees, offer rewards and make an appeal to the police in the matter. The architects stated the Richmond Road property presents a most disreputable appearance. Since the holidays 18 panes of glass were smashed by catapults. Young hoodlums used the shelter sheds for card playing, smoking and other things after school hours and on Sundays. The same kind of thing was complained of at Wellesleystreet. Chapel - street, Newton East, Church-street, Newmarket, and others. The architects further stated that the destruction to the school properties was attributed to the vile conduct of certain " gangs "or " pushes." They were informed there was a Brown-street " push," a Newton •' push," a Karangahape Road "push," and Alexandra-street "push," and so on. Subsequently the architects were called in, and conferred with the Board on the matter contained in their communication.
