A movement is on foot to make a presentation to Sir Robert Stout on his retirement from polities. Dr. W. It, C. Erson, who had been returned unopposed, was on February 21 installed Mayor of Onehunga in the Borough Council Chamber. Mr Maleom Ross, Mrs Ross and party recently madeasuccessfulascentof Ngarnahoe and Ruapehu. They got a good view of' the inside of the crater of the former. They . found the lake in Ruapehu crater quite | cold, and ice Hoaring in it. They believe i that reports of steam issuing from time to time were caused merely by ashes biowing about. A quantity of rainbow trout was liberated in the mountain streams.
