THE W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.

Attlie W.C.T.U. Convention, the difficulties of the •' White Ribbon/the organ of tlie Union, were discussed. A vote of sympathy was passed with the editor and others concerned in its production. It was resolved to hold the next Convention at Kaiapoi. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mrs Schnackenberg ; corresponding secretary, Miss Powell ; recording secretary, Miss L. M. Kirk ; treasurer, Mrs Hill; Superintendents of Departments: Evangelistic, Mrs Kirkland ; juvenile, Mrs Spence ; medical contests, Miss Powell; Sabbath observance, Miss Minchin ; missionary, Miss Jack; young women's work and hygiene and food reform, Mrs Miller; scientific temperance instruction and Maori work, Mrs Hchnackenberg; unfermented wine, Mrs Plummer ; influencing the press, Mrs Cole ; mothers' meetings, Mrs Garskin; social purity aud rescue work, Mrs Webb ; Bible in schools, and peace and arbitration, MissDalrymple ; narcotics, Mrs Rose; sailors' rests, Mrs Begg; relief work, Mrs Blackwell ; legal anil Parliamentary, Mrs Sheppard and Miss L. M. Kirk; prison reform, Lady Stout. This closed the business of the largest Convention yet held.
