Drunkenness.—Kate McManus, charged with being drunk in Fort-street, was lined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment, and ordered to pay 2s cab hire.—Ada Logan and Annie Dunn, charged with the same olfence, were both discharged with a caution, Logan to pay 25.6 d cab hire. Breaking Panes of Glass.—William Scott admitted wilfully breaking two panes of Mass, value 4s, the property of John Carey. was discharged on payment of damages and costs.— Sergeant Clarke explained that the accused went to a " wrong house." . Adjourned.—A charge preferred against Patrick Nolan for failing to pay arrears for the support of his two children was adjourned until to-morrow. Theft of Zinc—Walter Freestone, John Dinan (alias Dignan) and John (alias James) Dunn, were charged that on the 19th January they did steal a quantity of zinc of the total value of 5s the property of Cornelius Murphy. Accused, who are old offenders, pleaded gnilty. They; were each sentenced to three months imprisonment. Resisting the Police.—Walter Freestone admitted resisting Police Constable Arthur R. Davis in the execution of his duty. He was lined £5 and costs, or the alternative of one month in Mount Eden. Theft From a Yacht.—John Dinan (alias Dignan) was charged that between the 9th and 15th January lie did steal from the yacht Una, then lying at the Wynyard' Pier, a number of articles, including fishinglines, coat, of the value of £4, the property of Walter Lathrope. —Accused pleaded not guilty.—William Frost, in evidence, said he was a second-hand dealer. Accused brought two fishing lines to him, and got Is 4d for them. Lathrope identified the fishing lines as his property.—Martha Lindsay deposed to buying a coat from an old man, and gave him Is for it.—Accused called a witness who" stated that he sold accused two fishing lines similar to those produced.—The Bench considered the case proved and sentenced accused to three months' imprisonment with hard labour, cumulative with the other sentence of to-day. Breaking and Entering. — A youth named Win. Franklin was charged that on 21st January he did break and enter the dwelling-house of Josephine Craig at Stoney Road, Three Kings, and stole therefrom jewellery and other articles of the total value of £18 18s.—Sergeant Clarke conducted the case for the police. He explained that the house was entered in the daytime by the window being raised.—Mrs Craig' deposed to leaving the house securely locked on the morning in question at 9 o'clock. She returned one hour later and found a window up. She saw some one leave the window and go past the side of the house. When she got into the house she found her drawers broken open and ransacked. Two other bedrooms and the front room were ransacked in the same way. Witness missed all the articles mentioned in the charge. —Evidence was also given by Percy Davis, Samuel Appleby, J. Craig, and Constable Hinton.—Appleby deposed to bringing the accused to Davis' house. Constable Hinton was sent for, and he found the articles in accused's possession.—Accused reserved his defence, and was committee to take his trial at the next Criminal Sittings of the Supreme Court.
