To-day there was a large disposition to buy. Bank and gas stocks were weak, but insurance shares were sought after. For New Zealand, OGs was oHe red;" 'but holders declined to quit under (s!)s. .National were asked for at 16s 3d, and South .British at 50s 9d. New Zealand Accident continue to be in favour, and -21s was offered. For New Zealand and River Plate buyers offered 15s' 2d. Devonport, Northern Steamship and Union .Steamship were also sought after, while UnionOilwere asked for at 17s9d,and New Zealand Drug (contributing) at 355. Milling stocks were stronger, Thames being in demand. Several sales were quoted in May Queens, at 7s 2d, 7s Id and 7s 3d, with buyers at 7s. Moanataiaris Merc also in favour, the advanced price of 9s 2d being offered, while there were transfers at 9s 3d. There were buyers in the market likewise for New Alburnia, Puru Consolidated, Sheridan and Victoria, For Crowns 20s was oflered, and New Zealand Talismans had buyers at I.ls. Woodstocks continue to improve, 22s 6cl being the buying quotation. On the other hand, Bunker's • Hills declined to Bd, sellers. Business was done in New Golconda at 4cl.
