FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' CONFERENCE SPORTS.

The Committee of the above have placed three amateur events on their programme for meiubors of Friendly Societies only : Quarter-mile Handicap with a iirs-t prize of order for trophy valued XQ ; 130 Yds Handicap, first prize order for trophy valued £~y ; IOOYds Wheelbarrow Race, lirst prize order for trophy valued £3, with proportionately valuable prizes for second and third positions in those events. The Committee have decided to accept post entries for the races for Friendly Society members. Acceptances received at Kidd's Commercial Hotel up to 9 p.m. to-morrow. The following handicaps have been declared :—
