PUNISHED.
CALCUTTA, January 20.
Two columns, under Brigadier-General Blood, which were despatched to punish the Bonerwal tribesmen, are returning. The expedition was completely successful.
IMPROVED INDIAN FINANCE.
LONDON, January 20.
Sir M. Hicks Beach states that the financial prospects of the Indian Government have recently improved to such an extent that no assistance is required at present in carrying on frontier operations.
