(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
CAMBRIDGE, this day.
The Hons. A. J. Cadman and T. Thompson arrived yesterday, and left again this morning. The Minister for Railways was waited upon by two deputations, one consisting of the Mayor, Councillors and . others interested in the welfare of the town, asking that return tickets to Cambridge be made available for two months, instead of one as at present. Similar concessions have been granted at Te Aroha, Okoroire and Rotorua. The Minister said the matter would receive attention after the end of the financial year, but if granted to Cambridge other districts also would want similar concession Another deputation including the President of the Farmers' Club and others, waited on Mr Cadman re freight on straw, the new parcels rate, and the disadvantage Cambridge is under from being 36 chains over the 100 miles from Auckland, which brings it under very much increased rate. The Minister said he contemplated making changes, but nothing would be done till after the end of the financial year.
