In order that these crude oils may not be taken for our Pure Volatila Eucalypti Extract, which is recognised by the medical division of the Prussian Government to bo of perfectly pure origin, as per information forwarded to us through-tho Consul at Melbourne, March 2, 1578, we otate :—' It is proved by tests madeby the Medical Clinics of the Universities at Bonn and Oriefswald, Prussia, and reported by Dr. Sehulz, Professor of Pharmacology at lionn, and Professor Dr Moak'r. Diiector ot tbe Medical Clinic at Grief.wald, that only products that are saturated with oxygen and free of acids, resinous and other substances, adherent to primary distillation, will develop the •anatire qualities proper to the plaut. All crude oil, or to called Eucalypti Fxtracts, are to be classed according to the named authorities among the turpentines which ate of insignltl cant medicinal value; and abandoned long since as an internal medicament. Thes« crude oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts, *re discernable— 1. By their deficiency in pungent odour, which our pioduct. the only genuine Eucalypti Extract, develops must freely its surplus of oxygen. J. By their alcoholic, thin, and mubile appearance licinq reduced in specific deusity through the presonco ol acids. 3. By their tasto. the teauit of the contracting tendency of resins and tauata. If these crude oils, or so-called Eucalypti Extracts, aro an plied by mistake in cases of croup, bronchitis, diphtheria, internal infl.imtiJi.tion, dysentery, etc., the cona<*queucei are most appalling.
