LONDON PRICES.

(From Our Special Correspondent).

LONDON, November 27.

There have been several disturbing influences at work in the New Zealand market during the past few days and business has been practically nil, while a softenin*'of asoinewhatfirmstand made by holders has been noticeable. It was announced this week that a reconstruction scheme for the Waitekauri Extended had been agreed upon. The reported basis was a reduction of the nominal value of the shares from 10s to ss, the new ones to carry a liability of Oil. As a part of the scheme it was stated that an amalgamation with the Victor-Waihou was proposed. Yesterday Waitekauri Extenders, which had slumped considerably as a result of the report, improved 9d on a statement that the proposed amalgamation with the Vietor-Waihou was off. There are 33,000 shares issued in the Waitekauri Extended and rumour says that it was proposed to create double the number of new ones of the value of ss, the underwriting firm to receive lid per share or a sum of £3,750. It is said that an offer has now been made the directors to guarantee a new issue for £2,000 but most shareholders fail to see the need of reconstruction as the company is only £4,000 in debt. It takes a lot to lift Royal Oaks, for despite the news of the crushing received this week with its estimated profit of £3,000 they only went up a few pence, and a late tape quotation giving their price at 2s lid to 2s ihl showed that they are easing oft". There is still a good deal of buying of the New Zealand Joint Stocks and ordinary shares left oil' at 30s to 32s 6d and founders at 9b to lOi. Waitekauris hardened an eighth in yesterday's market.
