The column under command of Briga-diei^G-eneral Hammond is detailed to rebuild the forts Ali Mussin Maude and Lundi Khotal in Khyber Pass, which were destroyed by the tribesmen. Brigadier General Biggs, who took a prominent part in the frontier campaign, is invalided.
The Indian newspapers severely criticise the manner of conducting the frontier campaign, aud assert that the rear guard has been sacrificed.
