SCHOOL PRIZE DISTRIBUTIONS.

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES' SCHOOL,

The '■'annual distribution of prizes in connection with St. Francis de Sales' School was held yesterday afternoon at the school buildings, Hobson - street. His Lordship Bishop Lenihan presided, and there was a large attendance of parents and friends of the scholars. Prior to the distribution of prizes an excellent musical programme was gone through by a number of the pupils, the items being as follows : — Dnet (three pianos), "Marche Hongroise ;" chorus, " Woodbirds Song;" vocal solo, "Beautiful Venice;" duet, "Martha;" vocal solo, " Nightingale Trill ;" recitation, "The Graduates Farewell;" song, " Merrily I Roam ;" duet, " Fading Away ;" vocal solo, " Woodnymph's Call ;" piano solo, " Tara ;" song, "Ireland." A drama entitled "Pride and Poverty" was very creditably acted by several of the scholars, after whicli Bishop Lenihan distributed the prizes, accompanying each with a few words of congratulation and approval. The singing of the chorus " 'Tis O'er" concluded a pleasant afternoon. The following is the prize list: — Senior Class.—Composition and science (silver medal), Miss Ormond; grammar and science, Miss Cooper'; geography and arithmetic, Miss Ormond; writing and arithmetic, Miss Clarke; geography and history, Miss Grace. Standard Vll.—Grammar and reading, Miss A. Grace; history and drawing, Miss Little; arithmetic and composition, Miss Fleming; writing and drawing, Miss Howden; geography and science, Miss Corley. Standard Vl.—Grammar and writing, Miss Eeidy ; geography and science, Miss Ricketts ; arithmetic, Miss Graham ; reading and recitation, Miss Ricketts ; history, Miss Leydon ; arithmetic, Miss E. Little ; history and geography, Miss Thorne. Standard V.—Composition and reading, MissDuffin ; arithmetic, Miss McDermott; reading, Miss Quinlan ; grammar and science, Miss R. Howden; history and geography, Miss McDonnell. , Standard IV.—General improvement, Miss Mangan ; arithmetic and geography, Miss Hutchinson; geography and arithmetic, Miss Kiely ; general improvement, Miss Phelan ; general improvement, Miss Dignan; grammar and history, Miss Kiely.
