Transactions wert more numerous on ' the Exchange to-day. Alburnia shares were dealt in at ■ 4s, with further buyers eft and no sellers under 4s 6d. A sale was made of Ohinemuri Syndicate shares at ss, while 18s Cd Softered for Woodstock* and 11s 3d for Talismans. A few sales were also made Mn May Queen Extendeds, Talisman Extendeds, Ohinemuri and Waihi Consols at ••'ferrates. Investing stocks had moderate ■flemand, the only transactions reported being New Zealand Insurance at 70s, at which price more shares could readily have :L: placed. The Auckland Exchange closed this afternoon until Wednesday morning, January sth, 1898.
