THE AUCKLAND CUP.
The most notable movement in connection with the Auckland Cup this week has been the supporting of Coronet. The colt shajed really well in a two mile gallop yesterday morning, and with such a light weight as lie is called upon to carry he should make a bid for victory. 1 assign him a place at least. Waiuku. arrives this afternoon, after which his chance can be further dealt with. From what; I hear both Fabulist and Favona will be starters, but nevertheless the stable are pretty sweet on the chance of the three-year-old Daystar continues to do really well, but whet Lc r lie will be able to gallop at his best on .lie hard course on the day remains to be seen. Heavy Tain between this and Monday would make his chance a really good one. Antares is another candidate who has done well. He looks in capital trim, and if there is to be a snprise in store I opine he is the one that will effect it. Last I will mention, but not least, is St. Paul. Chaafe has subjected the popular colt to a most searching preparation, and he is fit enough to run for a kingdom. I think he will be found capable of winning, and probably Waiuku and Coronet may be found his most dangerous opponents. My selection for the various events of Monday's programme will appear in Friday's ' Star.'
