MINE MANAGER'S REPORT.
Argosy.—Recent discoveries made by Mr Smith and myself have fully satisfied me that the big reef lies away from No. 1. Whilst tracing the main reel down the spur for a considerable distance towards Temple Bar we discovered a fine looking leader of about 3ft in thickness with nicely denned walls. This leader looks very much like our Nos. 1 and 2 leaders junctioned together. Here and there the country looks splendid for gold bearing. The big reef also shows very plainly here, and is within 20 or 30ft of the freshly-dis-covered leader. There is every possibility that the leader and the big reef will junction a little further down the gully. If the directors think it advisable I would like to see this leader and big reef tried, as driving here would give us 150 ft of backs lower than our present level, but if the directors do not think it advisable, I would suggest that the No. 1 drive is pushed ahead, as there was still a little gold showing up to the time the men were discharged.
Queen Victoria of Hauraki.—Have been trenching higher up on spur to cut and test leader I mentioned last week. Have cut another leader with pug seam running through it which gives splendid prospects ; also obtained few colours from stone by pounding, and intend sinking a little on it to get a fair test.
Moanataiari Extended.—A large reef about 4ft in thickness has been intersected in the drive going in on the leader. The quartz hears a favourable appearance. The manager intends to drive on it. The country about the lode is of a good class with strong mineral seams showing. The leader we have beeu driving on is running with tiie reef.
Tokatea Consols. —Intermediate cross lode: The leader is still small but in a good class of country. The east drive on this leader has been extended 17ft for the fortnight. It continues to give colours of gold by washing. We have worked the leading stope 40ft along over the drive. Its prospects continue payable. Kennedy's leaner : We are putting in a stope over the drive. Wo get small prospects occasionally." Surface leader : The leader is small but carries a little gold and is in good country.
