THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIA.
LONDON, December 11
At the annual meeting of the P. and 0. Company, Sir Thos. Sutherland, Chairman of Directors, said it was perhaps satisfactory to note that Australia was not recovering too rapidly from the effects of commercial depression. When Australia became federated it would have a far greater future than the most sanguine could anticipate while the colonies were divided by rival policies and differential policies.
