DEATH OF MR S. Y. COLLINS.
The death is announced of Mr S. Y. Collins, an old and respected resident of Auckland. Mr Collins died yesterday at his residence in Parnoll, at tl.o age of seventy-four years. Ho had sufi'eared from an affection of the heart, but Iris death was accelerated by bronchitis. The late Mr Collins arrived in the colony in January, 1860, in the ship African, from London, where he had been engaged in the publishing business. For the grea-ter part of his residence in the colony he had been in the Government service, and he was formerly Registrar of Electors and Judge of the Assessment Court in Auckland. He was at one time Deputy-Commissioner of the Hawke's Bay district for the land tax, and he was widely known and respected in Napier. The deceased gentleman leaves a widow, eight sons, and two daughters, and a large number of grand children. The funeral will take place to-morrow at the Purewa Cemetery, but at the deceased's request, the interment will he private.
