( Bay Views, after. being offered for some time past at 2Ad without any buyers being quoted, were suddenly in demand to-day owing to 601b of good, stone having been secured at the low level. Buyers first picked up parcels at 2d % then •at 2id and finally 3d was paid, with a still further buyer at 3?jd. Imperial shares showed a tendency to firm in price, being sold at Is l^d. Monowais also advanced, sales being made at 3s. Buyers of Waiotahi shares advanced from 18s to 20s, but the only seller asked double that price. Talismans were in request at 12s 6d and Woodstocks at 18s 6d. Insurance stocks are very iirm, 71s Cd being offered for New Zealand, 51s 9d for South British and 15a for Standards, but no sales resulted. Gas shares generally were weaker. Northern Steam changed hands at 6s lOd.
