BLASTING ACCIDENT.
A MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED,

THAMES, this day. A man named John Hatton was ad- ■ totted to the local Hospital last night suffering from severe injuries, the result of a blasting accident in the Waihi mine on Saturday morning. Hatton was engaged .sinking, and two others rising, and the point of connection was close ™ both parties. Those working below "&d put in two holes, and Hatton had also pit in.one. Both parties fired their holes at the same time. Hatton hearing the shots go oft" beneath him, mistook the s Reality of the explosion, and, thinking it ' Proceeded from the charge he himself had PM, went back. When "he was within a tew feet of the hole the charge exploded, Hatton receiving the full effect in his face antibody. Dr. Williams states the man is ..seriously injured. He has lost one eye, and we other is badly injured, though there is saving his sieht. He has also ::W cuts on the face and' left arm.
